BC awards $5.5 million to help Mako Wood Furniture build new plant

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Mako Wood Furniture will receive up to $5.5 million through the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund to construct a new facility in Merrit, British Columbia.Mako Wood Furniture’s new plant, which is already under construction, is expected to create 29 jobs. The company plans to continue manufacturing at its existing facility in Surrey, British Columbia.Mako Wood Furniture manufactures bedroom sets, dining room sets and home office furniture using alder, pine and maple hardwoods.

RoyOMartin expands, supported by National New Markets Fund $28.5M investment

The $115.1 million project will retain 200 full-time jobs and create 123 new full-time positions. RoyOMartin currently operates a 407,125‑square-foot plant that manufactures oriented strand board, a durable alternative to plywood used for specialty flooring and housing-related products. The new 370,400-SF specialty facility is under construction and will increase total production capacity by 70%.
