2025 can best be described as the year of change for the FDMC 300, a ranking of the largest wood products manufacturers in North America. There was plenty of acquiring being done during the year, including HNI’s acquisition of Steelcase in December and Pella’s purchase of Weather Shield in July. Announced last year but still to come: MasterBrand’s acquisition/merger with American Woodmark.
A large number of closures also contributed to a new look to the 2026 FDMC 300. Last year and early 2026 saw several expected — and unexpected — shutdowns, including Reborn Cabinets, TJ Hale, JTB Furniture, Howard Miller, and Kabinart. More than a dozen new companies have joined the FDMC 300 in replacement.
See which companies made the list: 2026 FDMC 300 rankings
As a group, sales for the FDMC 300 — which includes manufacturers of furniture, cabinetry, architectural millwork, flooring, windows/doors, retail fixtures, closets/home organization, and other wood-related products — totaled $71.4 billion.
At 42.7%, furniture manufacturers once again comprised the largest dollar segment in this year’s group. Unlike last year, sales by residential furniture manufacturers outpaced contract, accounting for 22.3% and 20.4% respectively.
Meanwhile, sales by manufacturers of cabinetry and closet products comprised 21.8% of the overall total, similar to last year. The retail fixtures and architectural woodwork segments remained relatively unchanged, accounting for 2.7% and 2.2% of the overall total. The specialty products segment, which includes musical instruments, was at 1.4%. The fenestration and flooring segment, which this year included industrial components/products, remained strong, accounting for 29.2% of FDMC 300 companies’ overall sales total.
Along with tariffs, the economy, labor recruitment and retention were once again among the top concerns in 2025 and continue to be in 2026. That said, many FDMC 300 respondents are bullish for 2026, although to what extent remains to be seen.
The 2026 FDMC 300 is sponsored by (in alphabetical order): Black Bros., Daubert Chemical, DVUV, IMA Schelling Group, Panel Processing Inc., Peak Toolworks, SATA , Swiss Krono, and Vortex Tool Co.
