OREM, Utah — MityLite will begin operations in April at a new manufacturing facility in Orem, Utah, expanding production and creating 65 new jobs. The expansion brings the company's premium Holsag wooden furniture line to Orem. Previously, the Holsag product line of hardwood seating was manufactured in Canada.

"This was a difficult decision, and one we had to make quickly," said Kevin McCoy, CEO at MITY, Inc. "Bringing our production to Orem felt like the best move for our business and our team. I'm excited to grow our manufacturing capabilities in Utah. We owe a debt of gratitude to all that made this possible: our teams in Canada and Orem; Orem City; and the state of Utah."

After announcing the shutdown of its Lindsay, Ontario, plant in October, the company hired nearly 65 employees through a job fair in January. The event generated strong turnout and allowed for on-the-spot interviews and hiring.

MITY Inc. operates several offices and warehouses in Orem. To make room for Holsag manufacturing, MITY Inc. leased an additional 80,000-square-foot facility.

"We were incredibly encouraged by the support from the local community during our on-site job fair. In a short amount of time, we were able to identify many talented candidates. We are grateful to provide 65 new jobs through this project, and we look forward to the positive impact these roles will have on individuals, families and the community," said Jen Richardson, executive director of HR for MITY Inc.

About 75 employees in Canada were affected by the transition. MityLite said it provided one-on-one support, including resume assistance, interview preparation, and job placement guidance.

MityLite, which will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 20, is an FDMC 300 listed company. It ranks #138 on the list of top North American wood products manufacturers.
