This bipartisan legislation provides incentives for the use of mass timber building materials in federal contracting, giving timber and other forest products companies the ability to compete for construction, renovation, or acquisition of public buildings, and for military construction.

Mohawk Industries, Inc. announced that Paul F. De Cock, president and COO, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and a director of the Mohawk Board of Directors, effective September 30, 2026. De Cock will succeed Jeffrey S. Lorberbaum, who will retire from his role as CEO of the Company at that time, and continue to serve as Chairman of the Board.

Wholesale prices of goods used in residential construction rose in May as energy prices continued to climb. In May, residential building material prices, excluding energy, rose at their highest yearly rate since January 2023, as prices were up 4.4% from a year ago and up 0.7% over the month. Meanwhile, prices for services rose 4.7% over the year, but were unchanged from the previous month.

The State of California announced the formation of the state’s first California Mass Timber Coalition, a new public-private partnership designed to accelerate the adoption of mass timber construction, drive forest health and wildfire mitigation efforts, and accelerate economic development across the state’s rural and urban communities.

Kent Gilchrist, long-time Secretary of the Woodwork Career Alliance of North America (WCA) Board of Directors, has taken on the additional role of Chairman. Gilchrist was elected Chairman during the WCA Board’s recent meeting. In addition, the board elected John Leininger to serve a three-year term on the board of directors.

C&C Forest Products announced it is investing over $21 million to rebuild its Coushatta sawmill following a 2025 fire, repositioning the facility as a more efficient, cost-competitive specialty lumber and timber operation. The company is expected to create 77 direct new jobs with an average annual salary of $65,260, which is 34% above the average Red River Parish wage, while retaining 27 current positions.

In addition to the new brand’s offerings of full-system solutions, trusted products and new coatings innovations, the company also is the exclusive distributor of PPG’s Protective & Marine Coatings.

Wood Veneer 101 will launch on July 1, 2026. It's a new members-only course designed to build foundational knowledge of wood veneer, its applications, and best practices.

The Build Dakota program provides students with a full-ride scholarship for high-demand technical careers in exchange for working in South Dakota after graduation.
