SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Furniture Society is accepting applications for its 2026 Exhibiting Furniture and Sculptural Objects (EFASO) Member Grant Program, offering financial assistance to help U.S.-based furniture makers offset the cost of exhibiting their work.

Funded through the Maxwell Hanrahan Foundation, the program will award two grants of up to $1,000 each to current Furniture Society members exhibiting work in gallery or institutional exhibitions opening between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2026.

Eligible applicants must be current members of The Furniture Society and based in the United States. The organization said the program is open to applicants from all backgrounds regardless of geographic region, age, gender, demographics or project scope.

Applications opened July 22 and must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Aug. 19. Grant recipients will be notified no later than Aug. 31.

Applicants must submit a completed application, a résumé or CV, an artist statement, verification of inclusion in a qualifying exhibition and a link to their Furniture Society profile page featuring at least five images of their work. Artists who have been waitlisted for an exhibition may apply but must provide proof of acceptance by Oct. 1.

Grant funds are provided as reimbursements after the exhibition opens and required documentation is submitted. Eligible expenses include shipping, handling, transportation costs, packaging materials and either fuel expenses or mileage at the current IRS reimbursement rate. The grant does not cover materials used to create artwork.

Within one month of their exhibition opening, recipients must submit a written report describing the impact of the grant, photographs of the exhibited work and documentation acknowledging The Furniture Society and the EFASO program in exhibition materials. Recipients are also encouraged to promote the exhibition on social media using the hashtags #EFASO and #FurnitureSociety and by tagging The Furniture Society.
