Woodworking machining spindle manufacturer Precision Drive Systems of Bessemer City, NC announced that Bob Barone has joined its North American sales team as Northeast Regional Sales Manager.
If we kept track of the mileage of spindles, as we do our automobiles, a typical 24,000 rpm spindle used eight hours a day would accumulate over 250,000 miles per year. Eventually, the bearings wear out or the electrical insulation fails. Then what?

Woodworking cutting tool manufacturer GUHDO's new 'Free Inserts with Profiler' program, to be presented at IWF 2014, makes accessible to shops of all sizes custom tooling for shapers, moulders, tenoners, edgebanders and CNC routers.
Before founding Vexor Custom Woodworking Tools in 1984, Walter Orbach had spent nearly 20 years manufacturing router bits, shaper cutters, and other specialty tools for various companies. During that time, Orbach took note of the issues woodworkers were having with their tools, compiling a list of problems he would later attempt to remedy with his own company. Today, in addition to manufacturing standard router bits and shaper cutters, Vexor manufactures custom cutting tools for woodworkers. In an online gallery, customers can scroll through custom brazed router bits, table saw cutters, and tools for shaping handrails—all designed by the company and its customers. Its Multi-Profile family of tools offers customers the capability to add additional profiles at a fraction of the cost of dedicated insert tooling. Designed for use on a variety of machines, the Multi-Pro tools include raised-panel cutter systems, multi-panel CNC tools, and rosette cutters. Vexor Custom Woodworking Tools recently recently added two machines to its lathe and milling departments. A spokesperson for Vector says the systems will reduce setup time and the amount of time spent changing tools by allowing in-cycle gauging and first-off inspection of parts with automatic offset updates. With the exception of the five-axis grinders, all machines in the plant are now programmed with Mastercam or Espirit. Vexor anticipates the upgrade will advance its tooling capabilities, speed production, and keep pricing competitive.
