International Paper will soon be back in the composite panel business following the overwhelming approval of a merger agreement by Temple-Inland stockholders.
TORONTO -- Norbord Inc. (TSX: NBD, NBD.WT), manufacturer of wood-based panels, reported a $1 million loss in the third quarter of 2011 compared to a $4 million loss in Q3 2010.
Norbord Inc. (TSX: NBD, NBD.WT) today reported positive EBITDA of $12 million in the third quarter of 2011 compared to $10 million in the second quarter of 2011 and $13 million in the third quarter of 2010.
BONN GERMANY -- The German Federal Cartel Office (GFCO) has imposed fines totaling approximately € 42 million ($57.9 million) on four manufacturers of particleboard, oriented strand board and other wood-based products for conspiring to fix prices of their products.
Roseburg announced today that it plans to indefinitely close its particleboard plant located in Louisville, Miss. As a result of this closure, approximately 80 employees will be curtailed.
The Composite Panel Assn. has launched a new Eco-Certified Composite Sustainability Standard and Certification Program for producers and users of composite panels. The ECC voluntary standard replaces the group’s previous Environmentally Preferable Product designation.
International Paper announced it has reached a definitive merger agreement with Temple-Inland Inc. and will acquire all of the composite panel and packaging manufacturer's outstanding common stock for $32.00 per share in cash, plus the assumption of $600 million in Temple-Inland's year-end debt. The total transaction value is approximately $4.3 billion.
