A kitchen island unit by French cabinetmaker Philip Voice in Villereal, France. The carcass is softwood. The stiles and rails of the cupboard doors, as well as the drawer fronts, are made from kiln dried pine.
Reusing old hinges caused doors to stay proud of the inside of the face frame and the lowest set of hinges, clashing so they couldn't open. Upgrading the hardware, made all the difference in the world.
The Cabinet Makers Assn. and the American Wood Finishing Institute are making available hands-on instructional programs to train and certify spray finish operators in North Carolina. This program is fully funded by a workforce-training grant from the state.
