Mockett extends Design Competition deadline & expands outreach to students, schools

TORRANCE, Calif. — Doug Mockett & Company is expanding its outreach to schools and increasing professional opportunities for students with the 40th annual Mockett Design Competition. The deadline has been extended to December 12, 2025. Also, a new, customizable marketing kit has been released.

The new marketing tool kit includes a syllabus template for schools that want to include the competition in their organized class assignments. The kit consists of free digital and printed promotional materials, digital banners, social media imagery, posters, flyers, postcards, and participation certificates.

The annual Mockett Design Competition offers students, professionals, and people with any level of design experience the opportunity to have their ideas for furniture parts, components, accessories, and hardware developed into a real product offered for sale in the furniture component market. There is no cap on the number of winners that can be chosen. All winners are awarded $3,000, an engraved achievement trophy, and royalties based on sales.

“No idea is too dull, too unusual, or too prosaic,” said Founder Doug Mockett. “And everybody is encouraged to participate. You’d be surprised how many first-place winners were surprised when they got the congratulatory call!”
