Northern Contours expands door and drawer front production

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Northern Contours has expanded its Level production to its operation in Corbin, Kentucky. With this additional capability, Level products are available from three Northern Contours facilities for more efficient and complete North American coverage.  Level door and drawers fronts include a series of flat laminated and edgebanded cabinet doors in matte, acrylic, textured melamine and three thermofoil products. Four different edgebanding options are available.

50,000-year-old New Zealand Kauri wood forms earth table

Featuring 50,000-year-old Kauri wood from New Zealand, Italian design woodshop Riva 1920’s “Earth Table” aims to be a stylized representation of the earth, metaphorically representing the continents and oceans. The table’s top places the Kauri wood into a resin setting, allowing the material to float above a tubular base. The resin, which makes up the oceanic segments, forms an interplay of light and shadow.

Residential furniture orders post 8% gain in November

Residential furniture orders rose 8 percent in November compared to the year prior, and 1 percent higher than October orders, according to the latest Furniture Insights survey of residential furniture manufacturers and distributors from Smith Leonard. New orders were up in November for 61 percent of the surveyed participants, compared to 52 percent which recorded an increase the month prior.

Bosch, SawStop officials react to ITC ban on Reaxx saw

While SawStop officials applauded a U.S. International Trade Commission decision blocking the import and sale of the Bosch Reaxx saw, Bosch officials are still holding out hope that presidential review will reverse the ruling. Concluding a lengthy investigation, the ITC on January 27 ruled that the Bosch Reaxx saw violates two patents held by SawStop for technology designed to protect users from accidentally being cut by the saw. The ITC issued a cease-and-desist order banning Bosch from importing or selling the saws as well as any supporting parts in the United States.
