University Furnishings fined $15 million for evading antidumping duties
University Furnishings LP and its partner, Freedom Furniture Group Inc., will pay $15 million for misclassifying imported university dorm furniture to avoid paying antidumping duties on the Chinese-made wood bedroom furniture. A competitor blew the whistle.

Enviva acquires Virginia wood pellet fuel plant for $131 million
Biofuel producer Enviva Partners LP has acquired a fully-contracted Southampton County, Virginia plant for $131 million. Acquired from Enviva's sponsor’s joint venture with affiliates of John Hancock Life Insurance Co., the Southampton plant has an annual pellet production capacity of 510,000 metric tons.

Kronospan Enters U.S. Flooring, Acquiring Clarion Board and Laminate
Laminate flooring and panel producer Kronospan has entered the U.S. flooring market, acquiring Clarion Boards Inc. and Clarion Laminates LLC. The Shippenville, PA-based Clarion Industries says it is the only fully integrated laminate flooring operation in North America. Based in Austria, Kronospan operates an MDF mill in Alabama.

Wayfair Furniture, Flooring Fail Formaldehyde Emissions Test
Online furnishings retailer Wayfair says it offers "a zillion things" for the home. What the e-commerce firm doesn't tell you is that some of those items contained high levels of formaldehyde. Nine out of 10 furniture and flooring items submitted to HPVA Laboratories for formaldehyde emissions testing failed to comply with CARB II regulations.

$16 Billion Consumer Products Megadeal: Newell Rubbermaid Buys Jarden
Home storage, tool and consumer products giant Newell Rubbermaid has entered into an agreement with Jarden Corp. which will combine the two into a $16 billion company to be named Newell Brands. Subject to shareholder and regulatory approval, the transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2016.

Interfor Resumes SC Sawmill Operations Closed from Flooding
Interfor will resume operations at its Georgetown, SC, sawmill that had been shuttered two months due to extensive flooding. The Georgetown mill is one of nine sawmills in the southern United States owned by the lumber conglomerate.
