Sherwin-Williams buys coatings rival Valspar in $11.3 billion deal
The Sherwin-Williams Co. announced it will purchase paint and coatings rival The Valspar Corp. in a deal worth approximately $11.3 billion. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the first quarter in 2017.

HNI adds $17.8 million more to its office furniture factory expansions
HNI's latest expansion and renovation plans continue to move forward, with the office furniture giant being granted tax benefits on the estimated $17.8 million capital investment. This project is in addition to the $30 million expansion and renovation already underway at another HNI facility.

Binks, DeVilbiss owner Carlisle acquires MS powder coating manufacturer
Carlisle Companies Inc. has acquired Swiss-based powder coating systems manufacturer MS Oberflachentechnik AG, increasing its portfolio of finishing brands to five. Carlisle purchased the Finishing Brands business — Binks, DeVilbiss, Ransburg and BGK — from Graco in 2015.

Delta Furniture expands residential furniture factory
Upholstered furniture maker Delta Furniture Manufacturing is expanding its operations with the addition of an 80,000-square-foot facility in Houlka, Mississippi. The residential furniture company said the $432,000 investment will also create 100 jobs at the plant, which was once occupied by Astrolounger.

Veneer firm cited by OSHA after finger amputation
Besse Forest Products Group has been asked to pay $76,000 for OSHA violations, including one which resulted in the partial amputation of a 58-year-old employee's finger at a company-owned veneer plant.
