Wood & Wood Products Publisher Laurel Didier and Editor Karen Koenig made the trek to Hannover with video cameras in hand to see European machinery innovations in action. During the second day of the German fair, the team took a look at flexible new machinery options for manufacturing lightweight panels. Although not a new innovation, a number of companies at Ligna offered new machinery with improved technology to produce lightweight panels.

With the machine technology of the Koch Spring LightPanel (shown below), seamless lightweight panels can be equipped with fixing connections, even with thin-faced material — automatically.

Available from Torwegge, the Optimat PWR100 (shown below) is a newly developed lightweight panel machine for the flexible industrial production of small batch sizes.

Stefani Light Panel Technology (shown in the two videos below) is an extremely flexible application since it is not bound by panel height.
