United Furniture Expands North Carolina Operations

United Furniture Industries said it will use a former Linwood Furniture plant in North Carolina for distribution of its imported residential furniture products. The estimated 400,000-square-foot facility will be used for storage and distribution of bedroom and casual dining room furniture kits from Malaysia and Vietnam, to be sold under the Simmons brand.

Best Home Furnishings Kicks Off $3.1 Million Expansion

FERDINAND, IN — Upholstered furniture maker Best Home Furnishings has broken ground for a $3.1 million expansion at its Ferdinand, IN-based facility. Targeted for completion in August 2016, the 100,000-square-foot expansion will boost the size of the furniture supplier’s overall facilities to 1.2 million square feet.

Smith Brothers Furniture Expands, Adds 266 Jobs

Residential furniture maker Smith Brothers said it will create up to 266 new jobs by 2021 as the company ramps up production of its fabric and leather upholstered furniture. The Berne, IN-based manufacturer has invested $4.5 million in the project, which includes a 110,000-square-foot addition to its existing 215,000-square foot facility.

Upholstered Furniture Maker H.M. Richards Expands Operations

GUNTOWN, MS — Upholstered furniture manufacturer H.M. Richards is investing $8 million to expand  operations at its facility in Guntown, MS. The expansion is expected to create 500 jobs.Founded in 1997, H.M. Richards currently has 977 employees. For the expansion, the residential furniture maker is purchasing land adjacent to its 900,000-square-foot facility to build the new plant.
