Ethan Allen will shut down manufacturing operations at a North Carolina plant this week in a big consolidation initiative, laying off 325 workers.

Ethan Allen (NYSE: ETH) says it is optimizing manufacturing and logistics by consolidating some case goods manufacturing and converting a production plant into a warehouse.

A $195,462 state grant will allow Ethan Allen to expand its manufacturing operation in Fort Mill, North Carolina, and hire 16 new people.

Residential furniture manufacturer Ethan Allen has moved its Baltimore area Design Center from Catonsville to Gateway Overlook, an upscale shopping center in neighboring Elkridge, Maryland.

Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. has expanded its upholstery production in Maiden, North Carolina, with the conversion of a 173,000-square-foot former distribution facility located on its manufacturing campus to an upholstery plant. The residential furniture giant said the new plant will support the existing two upholstery facilities and also house a new R&D facility.
