HOLLAND, Mich. – The commercial furniture industry finished 2018 on a strong note and continues that way into 2019, according to the January 2019 quarterly MADA/OFI Trends Survey. The January 2019 survey index of 59.31 is boosted by strong improvements in nine out of ten individual index values and brings it closer to the highest recorded index of 59.72 in July 2005. The lowest was 41.45 in April 2009 during the bottom of the recession.

McCONNELLSVILLE, N.Y. — Less than a month after shuttering its doors, Harden Furniture has recalled 82 workers as the longtime residential and contract furniture maker resumes limited production at its McConnellsville, New York factory. 

DALLAS - Height-adjustable desk manufacturer Varidesk has acquired Stand2Learn, a producer of standing desks for elementary and high school students. Details of the transaction, announced Feb. 6, were not disclosed. Since launching Varidesk in 2013, the company said its sit-stand desks and "Active Workspace" products can be found in more than 95 percent of Fortune 500 companies, as well as home offices around the world. The acquisition of Stand2Learn will allow it to now tap into the educational market.

Steelcase Inc. has announced plans to acquire AMQ Solutions, a Southern California-based provider of height adjustable desking, benching and seating for open office and collaborative environments, and training rooms.
