RESTON, Va. – May cabinet sales were down compared to the year prior, but up slightly compared to the month prior, according to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's Trend of Business report.
Responding companies reported overall sales of $183.6 million for May 2026, a decrease of 8.4% from the year prior. Custom sales were down 1.1%, at $52.157 million, while semi-custom dropped 10.8% to $102.076 million and stock sales fell 11.9%, to $29.398 million. Respondents reported a cabinet quantity for the month of 440,333, down 16.0% compared to May 2025 figures.
In a month-over-month comparison, survey respondents reported an increase in May for semi-custom sales to April sales figures. Semi-custom sales were up 4.6%, while custom sales dropped 3.0%, and stock cabinets while semi-custom dropped 2.2%. Cabinet quantity also fell, down 6.4% compared to the month prior.
For the year to date, estimated sales by responding companies were $869.062 million, and cabinet quantity was 2.243 million.
The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) represents kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
