RV industry continues fight against multi-state motorhome 'ban'

Six states are on a collision course to limit the sale of new gas- and diesel-powered RVs.The states — California, Washington, New York, Oregon, Massachusetts, and New Jersey — are poised to effectively eliminate the sale of new gas- and diesel-powered RVs starting January 1, 2025.RV Industry Association Government Affairs staff, along with several of our motorhome manufacturer members, met on Tuesday. Nov. 19, with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) staff overseeing the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) regulation.

Industry decries EPA's formaldehyde analysis

In August, the Environmental Protection Agency released the finalized IRIS Toxicological Review of Formaldehyde that addressed the potential cancer and noncancer human health effects from inhalation exposure to formaldehyde. Industry groups have questioned the methodology of the assessment, what they call "regulatory overreach," and worry that the assessment will lead to additional regulations.

Lumber company illegally imported logs, violates mountain pine beetle rules

Breaking the rules put in place to protect Saskatchewan forests can have consequences, as a Saskatchewan company found out.Landrider Trux Ltd., a Maple Creek firewood, logging and sawmilling operation, was fined just over $9,700 earlier this year after illegally importing pine logs from Alberta. Bringing pine logs with bark attached into Saskatchewan from jurisdictions with established mountain pine beetle populations is prohibited. The movement of wood with bark is one of the main ways that forest pests, including mountain pine beetle, are spread.
