Winners of 'What's Your Angle' student contest announced

PETALUMA, CA — Castle USA announced the class and individual winners of its 2023-2024 “What’s Your Angle” student woodworking contest. Entries were evaluated based on the overall look and presentation of the project as well as the most effective and innovative use of screw pocket joinery. The use of Castle machinery or products was not required.

The class entry winner was a mass-production project of over 200 pine storage benches (shown above) featuring pocket joinery, submitted by Hutchinson Middle School of Hutchinson, MN.

The individual winner was submitted by Elliot Perciaccante, Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough, NC. Elliot’s project was a “3-Section Liquor Cabinet” featuring a variety of hardwoods, a lift assembly, and multiple joinery techniques including pockets, biscuits, dowels, and dominoes.
Winning prizes included a TSM-12 Pocket Cutting Machine for the class winner and the Castle 110 Pocket Cutter Professional Bundle for the individual entry.

“This year we were blown away by the quality of the entries! Everyone was so impressive,” says Mathias Forsman, Castle CEO.
