Jeld-Wen files WARN notice, shuttering Oregon factory

Jeld-Wen plans to permanently close its door plant in Chiloquin, Oregon, resulting in 128 job losses. The plant, which manufactures custom doors and frames, will cease operations and production will be moved to other Jeld-Wen facilities. The closure is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with layoffs commencing in late June.

Designer-Maker Pinnacle Awards are now open, July 31 deadline

The International Society of Furniture Designers have opened the Designer-Maker section of the 2025 Pinnacle Awards. Categories been expanded to include 16 new subcategories representing the most popular I+D entries. Winners will be announced at the annual Pinnacle Awards Gala on Monday, October 27, 2025. The deadline to enter is July 31, 2025.

USDA acts to boost timber production, reduce wildfire risk

U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced a $23 million in grants to support transporting hazardous fuels – such as dead or downed trees – from national forests to processing facilities. Through the USDA Forest Service’s Hazardous Fuels Transportation Program, these grants will reduce the hazardous fuels that pose wildfire threats to communities, critical infrastructure and recreation areas.
