California fire awareness agency awards $5 million to wood product businesses

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), a state agency responsible for wildland fire protection and resource management in California, has awarded $5 million to eight Wood Products and Bioenergy companies. These companies were chosen to increase workforce capacity in the fields of logging, fuels treatment, transportation, manufacturing, or other support services that bolster the development of a resilient forest sector workforce.

Eligible workforce development projects included universities, colleges, government and community organizations, and businesses that aimed to increase workforce capacity in the fields of logging, fuels treatment, transportation, manufacturing, or other support services that bolster the development of a resilient forest sector workforce.

Cal Fire's Wood Products and Bioenergy Program seeks to maintain and enhance the wood products infrastructure of California to support healthy, resilient forests along with the people and ecosystems that depend on them.
