SACRAMENTO, Calif. — In the early morning hours of August 8, a fire began in a commercial lumber yard in north Sacramento County.

Fire crews were dispatched around 2:30 a.m. to the business Valley Redwood, located in the North Highlands area. Sacramento Metro Fire and Sacramento City Fire arrived to find an office and warehouse building fully involved in flames. Firefighters quickly assessed the situation and initiated a defensive fire attack.

Crews with Metro Fire and the Sacramento Fire Department worked together to extinguish the fire, facing hazards due to downed power lines, Metro Fire said. Due to the aggressive efforts of all personnel on scene, the fire was contained to the original structure, preventing further damage to surrounding buildings.

No injuries were reported.

Metro Fire's Arson Investigation Unit is working to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Valley Redwood has announced that deliveries and some operations will be underway as the damages are assessed and repaired.
