Lumber Liquidators Puts Floors Under Families In Need

TOANO, Va. - Lumber Liquidators (NYSE: LL) has helped create more than 50 clean and comfortable "home-away-from-homes" for families, through its ongoing support for Ronald McDonald House Charities(R) (RMHC(R)). Since 2007, the largest specialty retailer of hardwood flooring in North America has donated more than 250,000 square feet of flooring to Ronald McDonald Houses, which offer a temporary home to families who have relocated in order to better support and care for their child who is hospitalized or receiving medical treatment.

Lumber Liquidators' latest support of RMHC included donating more than $8,000 in bamboo flooring to the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh. It is the fifth largest House in the nation, accommodating up to 60 families. The flooring was installed in the community areas, where families can gather with others for support and encouragement.

William Sullivan, president and chief executive officer, Ronald McDonald House-New York remarked, "Lumber Liquidators has met our needs by providing this donation that's so valuable to us." Nancy Skochdopole, board member, Ronald McDonald House-Dallas, adds, "Donations keep the door open at the Ronald McDonald House(R). We could not keep families together and do what we do for them without donors like Lumber Liquidators."

Lumber Liquidators supports RMHC through its philanthropic program, Lay It Forward. The program supports organizations that will benefit generations to come, a vision that also drives the enduring quality of Lumber Liquidators' products.

Robert M. Lynch, president and chief executive officer, commented, "Ronald McDonald House Charities embodies our commitment to Lay It Forward because it makes lasting impacts on the families it serves. We are pleased to have donated beautiful hardwood floors to Ronald McDonald Houses, helping them create an accommodating home for years to come. This strengthens families during a challenging time and allows them to focus on creating a brighter future for their child."

With hardwood flooring, a Ronald McDonald House addresses its objective of maintaining a clean and safe environment for children who, in some cases, have compromised or sensitive immune systems due to the medical procedures they're undergoing, such as organ transplants and chemotherapy.

"When we built the space, the doctors requested that we have a cleanable floor, which meant no carpet. So going with a hardwood floor was really important," said Jill Cumnock, Chief Executive Officer, Ronald McDonald House-Dallas. "The hardwood flooring from Lumber Liquidators allows us to keep the homes as clean as possible -- they're so easy to care for. Plus, the floors add to the space with their coziness, warmth and certainly their durability."

In April, the National Wood Flooring Association recognized Lumber Liquidators' support for RMHC by honoring the company with a 2013 Community Service Award.
