Learn about EBI Electric’s scanner for optimizing lumber at WMS 2025
EBI Electric Lumber Scanning System

EBI Electric’s scanner uses a high-tech vision system that finds small defects in real time.

TORONTO — EBI Electric, a supplier of electrical engineering products and services, will display its vision scanning system that helps sawmills quickly optimize hardwood and softwood lumber production.

As wood moves down the line, the scanner reads each board. It checks the size, the shape, and even spots things like knots, cracks, or color changes. Aa a result, every cut is better placed, with less waste and more usable wood.

See More: EBI Electric’s scanner uses a high-tech vision system that finds small defects in real time —without slowing down a line. It catches burn marks, stains, and other flaws that affect quality. Each board is scanned not just for its size, but for its true value, the company says, adding that even pieces that would usually be rejected can now be recovered and used smarter.

Simple to Use: EBI Electric says the scanner was designed with real workplaces in mind so there is no need to overhaul production setup. Its touchscreen interface allows operators to quickly check results or adjust settings.

AI Power: An optional AI module learns from operator choices and improves over time. This feature, EBI Electric says, gets smarter with every shift—without adding complexity.

Built Tough: The EBI Inspector scanner is durable, precise, and ready to go from day one. Whether cutting wood for furniture, flooring, or components, it helps get the best out of every board.
