50,000-year-old New Zealand Kauri wood forms earth table

Featuring 50,000-year-old Kauri wood from New Zealand, Italian design woodshop Riva 1920’s “Earth Table” aims to be a stylized representation of the earth, metaphorically representing the continents and oceans. The table’s top places the Kauri wood into a resin setting, allowing the material to float above a tubular base. The resin, which makes up the oceanic segments, forms an interplay of light and shadow.
