AWFS participates in U.S.-China CTE summit
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers was invited to participate in the fourth U.S.-China State and Provincial Education Leaders Dialogue: Technical and Vocational Education and Training, held in Washington D.C. October 30-31. The invitation was extended as a result of AWFS education director Adria Salvatore’s current role as chair of the ACTE Business & Industry Advisory Group.

Update: 12 woodworking companies earn AWFS Visionary Awards
ANAHEIM − Twelve woodworking companies have earned Visionary Awards for new product innovation and leadership. The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers (AWFS) reissued its announcement after it realized a technical issue left two companies off the initial list of winners.
The Visionary Awards were presented during the AWFS Fair. The biennial woodworking fair was held July 19-22 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

SkillsUSA woodworking contests garner industry support
Royal Plywood, Blum, Colonial Saw/Lamello, Hafele, ESI, Decore-ative Specialties, Rockler Woodworking, and West Wood Products donated nearly $8,000 in supplies, tools and giveaways for students at the 2016 SkillsUSA California State Cabinetmaking Championships, held April 2 at the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego.

Former AWFS President Skip Hem Passes Away
Past president and longtime AWFS volunteer Harry "Skip" Hem passed away on Nov. 13 following a long battle with cancer. He was 71.
