Trump slaps 25% tariff on cabinets and furniture, 10% on lumber, with eye on increasing duties

The Trump administration set tariffs on imported wood, furniture and kitchen cabinets announced by President Trump last week, while delaying their implementation by two weeks to Oct. 14. Tariffs on cabinets, vanities and upholstered furniturecould rise on Jan. 1, 2026, unless individual countries reach out to cut a deal with Trump.

Trump says details coming on furniture tariffs

President Trump said Monday that details are forthcoming on tariffs for furniture imports, following his announcement last week of a 30% levy on such goods. His social media post did not mention if or when details will be released on his threatened tariffs on imported cabinets, vanities and associated products that he said would go into effect on Oct. 1.
