Karen Bradbury, Closet & Storage Concepts, designed a His and Hers closet showcasing a striking balance of varying textures and colors. The project won the Closet: Laminate Under 18 linear ft. in the 2023 Top Shelf Design Awards. Winners were announced on April 13 at a reception sponsored by CCF Industries during the Closets Conference & Expo, held in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Here's how Bradbury describes the project:

Project Title: New Canaan Walk-In Closet

Project Details: Working in conjunction with a top interior designer in the area, we were tasked with designing and installing His & Her Closets side-by-side closets. His Closet is long and narrow, with angled walls and a window.  Her Closet also has angled walls of varying heights and two windows. The designer wanted the closets to be different but cohesive, as they are right next to each other. We used various complementary materials to create an interesting and striking balance of varying textures and colors. The biggest challenge in both closets was working with the various ceiling heights and angled walls.

Projection Construction: Both systems are floor mounted with hidden rail, 3/4" backing, five-piece Shaker doors and drawers, and gold hardware.  Both systems feature lighted closet rods and strip lighting.

Materials Used: The material used for His Closet is Night - a textured dark blue from Richelieu's Nature's Plus line. All lighting is from Hafele. The infrastructure for Her Closet is Espiga Sal which emulates a herringbone appearance and is a material from Richelieu's Finsa line. The backing, doors, and Her Closet drawers are Weekend Getaway from Tafisa's Viva line. The island in Her Closet is the Richelieu material Night which is the accent that brings the two closets together. The island top is from Hafele's Eco Domo line and is a color called Ivory Buffalo. All accessories - belt racks, tie racks, belt racks, etc. are from Hafele.

Equipment Used: Cabinet Vision Version 11 to design and produce final production drawings. All of our shop equipment is Homag - Sawteq B130 Beam Saw, Drillteq V-500 CNC Machining Center, and S240 FC Edgebander.
