Furniture company opens health care clinic for employees and family

PONTOTOC, Miss. — Employees of a Mississippi furniture factory are now able to get health care services near their work site. Southern Furniture Industries recently opened a health and wellness clinic for employees and their families to control the rising costs of health care. The clinic is staffed with three registered nurses and a nurse practitioner. Southern Furniture is made up of Southern Motion, a recliner manufacturer, and Fusion Furniture, producers of living room furniture, with about 2,200 employees at nine facilities in Pontotoc County.

Basketball legend Vinnie Johnson winds down furniture business

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- Vinnie Johnson, a legendary basketball player who helped lead the Detroit Pistons to two NBA championships and later established a multi-billion dollar business, has shuttered his Michigan-based office furniture dealership. The decision was made earlier this month to close Airea Inc., which is one of the companies in Johnson’s Piston Group LLC holding company. Global Shop Solutions names new CTO

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Global Shop Solutions, developers of enterprise resource planning software for manufacturers, has named John Davis as its chief technology officer (CTO).  Davis joined Global Shop Solutions in 2004, and has served as an analyst, programmer, and in management. Most recently he led the R&D Infrastructure Team. His programming, networking, and all-around technical knowledge has played a critical role in shaping the company’s ERP software product.
