HANOVER, Ontario – The Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario (WMCO) announced that it signed an agreement with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB).

Great Southern Wood Preserving, the lumber processing company best known for its YellaWood brand pressure-treated pine, announced a $5.9 million expansion of its Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana facility’s remanufacturing division with the installation of four new production lines. The additional equipment will increase the facility’s production capacity and allow for the manufacturing of components used in the oil field and for storm relief and mitigation.

Rayonier Inc. completed its acquisitions of high-quality commercial timberlands located in Texas, Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana from Manulife Investment Management on December 15, 2022 for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $454 million.

Stora Enso has initiated a sales process for a possible divestment of its consumer board production site in Beihai, China. The divestment would also include the Group’s forestry operations in the surrounding region, which supply raw materials to the Beihai site. The sales process supports Stora Enso’s strategy to focus on long-term profitable growth within the areas of renewable packaging, building solutions, and biomaterials innovations

Vermont manufacturer of wooden tableware has successfully deployed a UR5e collaborative robot from Universal Robots to handle the finish sanding of cutting boards. The new robot colleague, named ‘Sandrew’ by the staff, has delivered a 40% increase in the production throughput, which resulted in the robot paying itself back in just two months.
