MOBILE, Ala. — Great Southern Wood plans to invest $13.7 million in an expansion project at its treatment facility in Mobile County, allowing the company to create 12 jobs and retain 78 current positions, according to the Mobile Chamber. Upgrades to the Mobile County facility is intended to improve traffic flow, and storage, and expand the company’s ability to process imports and exports through the Port of Mobile, the company says.

HIGH POINT, N.C. –  The American Home Furnishings Alliance has awarded its highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award, to manufacturer and environmentalist William Gaston “Gat” Caperton IV. The honor was presented Nov. 4 during the organization’s Annual Meeting and CEO Conference in Sea Island, Ga.

David Belford, owner of United Furniture Industries in Northeast Mississippi, informed all 2,700 of his workers that they no longer had jobs. The New York Post reported that Belford is missing and nowhere to be found. However, multiple people told the Clarion Ledger Friday that Belford is believed to be in Paris staying at an upscale hotel.
