To provide Canadians with increased access to affordable and sustainable housing, the government announced an investment of over $7 million for the construction of 40 housing units in the village of Pugwash through the Affordable Housing Fund.
 

#5 Indiana truss maker building second factory in Michigan (Posted August 22, 2025)
An Indiana truss manufacturer is building a second plant in Battle Creek, Michigan, with the help of a $300,000 grant from the state. ProTec Panel & Truss Manufacturing, LLC is a Bremen, Indiana-based manufacturer of engineered wood roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels.
 

#6 Dorel to auction the entire contents of its shuttered Ohio plant (Posted September 11, 2025)
The complete contents of Dorel Home Furnishings former Ameriwood production plant in Tiffin, Ohio, is being auctioned off. Dorel announced the closure of the Ohio plant in January 2025 as part of the restructuring of its struggling Home segment. 
 

#7 50-year-old family business announces closing operations (Posted September 2, 2025)
Null Furniture, a family owned manufacturer that specializes in manufacturing and distributing living room tables, occasional tables, accent tables, and storage cabinets, particularly for smaller living spaces, announced in a Facebook post that they are winding down operations after 50 years in business.
 

#8 Alabama company gets $180,000 grant for planned $115M sawmill (Posted August 27, 2025)
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced a $180,000 grant that will help an Alabama lumber company build a plant that will lead to 130 jobs in east-central Alabama. The grant will help Alexander City provide infrastructure needed to pave the way for the construction of Two Rivers Lumber sawmill.
 

#9 AHF shuttering its flooring plant in Kentucky (Posted August 21, 2025)
AHF Products is continuing a multi-year plan to streamline manufacturing operations with the announcement that it will be winding down operations at its Somerset, Kentucky, manufacturing facility. AHF Products plans to close its hardwood flooring plant in Somerset by Dec. 12, 2025.
