#1 Swiss Krono to acquire Collins Pine composite panel mills (Posted June 4, 2025)
The Swiss Krono Group has agreed to acquire Collins Pine Co.’s particleboard and engineered wood siding manufacturing facilities in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The company said the acquisition builds its presence in the Western U.S. while complementing its existing operations in South Carolina.

#2 German board manufacturer selects location for $250 million U.S. factory (Posted May 22, 2025)
Homanit, a manufacturer of MDF, selected South Carolina for its first U.S. manufacturing operation. The $250 million plant is expected to be online in 2028.

#3 84 Lumber opens new component plant in Ohio (June 4, 2025)
84 Lumber, a national building materials supplier, has added another component plant to its growing list. The company’s newest 75,000-square-foot plant is located in Northwood, Ohio, and sits on 11 acres.

#4 Shuttered sawmills getting funding help to reopen (May 15, 2025)
Montana legislators want to provide low-interest loans to reopen sawmills. One such mill, Pyramid Lumber, may get a loan to upgrade the aged facility.

Woodgrain, a manufacturer of millwork and building materials, has implemented its long-term succession plan. After 16 years of service as CEO, Kelly Dame will transition leadership responsibility to Todd Dame, who will assume the role of CEO by September.

#9 Alabama lumber yard catches fire (May 18, 2025)
During the early morning hours on May 15, local fire departments responded to a structural fire at Evans Lumber Company in Alabama. Initial thoughts were that the fire was caused by sawdust.
