#1 Custom cabinetry owners face $370,000 in felony charges (Posted March-20-25)
The CEO and CFO of Wilshire Cabinets, a high-end cabinet business in Oklahoma City, face multiple felony charges after allegedly defrauding customers of more than $370,000.

#2 Trump excludes lumber in massive tariffs plan (Posted April 3, 2025)
After repeatedly saying that the U.S. didn't need Canadian lumber and numerous repeated threats to add import tariffs to a big chunk of U.S. wood supply, lumber was left out of Trump's April 2 tariff blitz.
 

#3 Crews battle pallet fire for more than 9 hours (Posted March 16, 2025)
Fire crews from eleven municipalities fought a fire at SV Pallet in Richfield, Wisconsin, for more than 9 hours before the fire was extinguished. The building was considered a loss. No injuries were reported.

#4 Iconic furniture designer and maker Thomas Moser has died. He was 90. (Posted March 7, 2025)
Thomas Moser, the furniture designer, furniture maker and founder of the iconic Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers has died at the age of 90.

Hooker Furnishings announced its decision to exit its Savannah, Georgia, distribution center and consolidate operations in its existing facilities.

#6 Gene Wengert, the Wood Doctor, has died (Posted March 23, 2025)
Gene Wengert, known for decades as The Wood Doctor, died March 17 from metastatic pancreatic cancer. He was 82. 

# 7 Lumber, building materials dealer groups raise tariff alarms; Lumber Coalition shows support (Posted March 25, 2025)
Two associations representing dealers of lumber and building materials are opposing tariffs or urging caution on tariff implementation, while a coalition of lumber producers continue to show strong support for President Trump's proposed tariffs on lumber and other materials and goods. 

#8 EU tariffs to target U.S. wood products? (Posted March 14, 2025)
President Trump enacted additional tariffs (later paused). This time with countries in Europe and as a result the European Commission is ready to retaliate with tariffs of its own including tariffs on a variety of wood products from the United States (subsequently paused).

Builders FirstSource (BFS) announced the acquisition of Truckee Tahoe Lumber Company (TTL), a family-owned business that has served the Northern Sierra-Nevada region since 1931.
