Madison Custom Cabinets: Learning to Market Like a Pro

Madison Custom Cabinets owner Nathan Sloas says his Leander, TX business has grown considerably since he embarked on a new strategy: emphasizing business practices rather than cabinetry craftsmanship.

Madison Cabinets and its affiliate, Madison AV, are both under the Madison Plus LLC umbrella. Madison Plus represents years of residential experience in every area from new home construction, home repairs, remodeling, and custom cabinetry. In addition to residential work, Madison Custom Cabinets undertakes architectural millwork projects, such as the University of Texas men's basketball team locker room rebuilt. The panel lockers in a curved inset feature cedar-lined under-bench shoe lockers, and rope moulding decorations.

Sloas opened his business in 2002, growing over time until the downturn during the Great Recession. After resetting his business strategy based on the book, "E-myth" by Michael Gerber, he retained marketing consultant Clint Evans of More Customers Online. Sloas explains in a video the impact this marketing program has had on his business.

Madison Custom Cabinets reached $100,000 in monthly revenue in October 2012, and broke the $1 million revenue level for the first time in 2012, also setting company sales records for three years running through 2014. The company was also featured on an HGTV show in an episode titled “Custom Cabinets for the Cardenas.”

While Madison Custom Cabinets produces tailored work, Sloas also launched a self-service online portal - www.NicheCabinets.com - for customers to order or initiate cabinetry projects.

In a video, Sloas talks about the strategy he adopted from More Customers Online, the profit growth, results, recommendations and the future.
