Mockett design contest winners announced

Doug Mockett has announced the winners of its annual design competition. This contest has grown over several decades and attracts professional designers, students and hobbyists. The entries from this past year continued in the tradition of celebrating new design.

The table leg design by Eli Chong, left in graphic, has a modern shape with a striking appearance and hollowed chamber in the rear cavity. The company has already started 3D printing models and plan to introduce the design in multiple sizes, starting with standard table leg height and a smaller version for furniture.

Panel screens for privacy and health and safety considerations are now an important part of office and commercial design. Here is an option to mount similarly to a standard grommet with a butterfly nut, as shown in this design by Walter Lang, center in graphic. The ability to tighten underneath introduces new options to swivel and reconfigure setups easily.

Mockett recently introduced its first foot pull to provide new applications for operating lower cabinet doors, and this design builds on that concept with contours for use on doors to promote safe spaces with touch-free entry to mitigate the spread of germs on shared handles. Design by Kaitlin Sides, shown at right in graphic. See http://Mockett.com
