2015 Visionary Awards winner Sanding Innovation: SurfPrep/Dixon. Dixon’s SurfPrep 3” x 4” Sanding System Kit is an ergonomically-designed low profile, rectangular orbital sander that can be used on flat surfaces, recessed corners, profiles and mouldings. A 12-foot ball swivel air hose allows for flexibility while dropping into drawer boxes and corners. 2015 Visionary Awards winner Software Innovation: RSA. RSA Solutions’ award-winning WoodCAD/CAM is a 3D/2D AutoCAD and SQL software program which saves time and money in the engineering of “one offs” and by building data quickly in solid modeling while generating floor plans, elevations, sectionals on any planes, cutlists and more, plus G-code for saws and routers. 2015 Visionary Awards winner Machinery Over $50k: Holz-Her. Holz-Her CNC Product Manager Michael Cassell holds the Visionary Award the company received for the Evolution Vertical Machining Center. The CNC machine features a vacuum-based clamping system (patent pending), and fully automatic suction cup positioning with hole recognition, allowing workpieces to be machined on all four sides without re-clamping. The standard drilling head is equipped with 9 vertical and 6 horizontal drills and a grooving saw, while the optional XL drilling head has up to 22 drilling spindles and a grooving saw.

2015 Visionary Awards winner Hardware innovation: Striplox. 2015 Visionary Awards winner Innovation in Power Tools: SawStop. SawStop’s Matt Howard, vice president of marketing, shows off the award-winning Jobsite Saw. Using SawStop technology, the portable saw detects when the blade makes contact with skin and stops the blade in less than 5 milliseconds. Innovations on the Jobsite Saw also increase accuracy and save time, the company says.

2015 Visionary Awards winner Components Innovation: Schenk Ltd. Schenk won the Visionary Award for its Borke-Smoked Larch-deeply textured real wood panel. 2015 Visionary Awards winner machinery under $50K: Next Wave. President Tim Owens displays the Visionary Award won by Next Wave Automation for its Piranha Fx , a unique CNC routing system. The CNC Piranha Fx is the latest – and smallest – of Next Wave’s CNC systems and the only machine at press date that has 3D printing and laser engraving, along with CNC routing/carving functionality.

2015 Visionary Awards winner Innovation in Tooling: Vortex. With Vortex’s award-winning Tool Selection Guide App, users input the type of material being cut, the CNC machine’s horsepower, tool diameter, material thickness and the type of cut desired, and the app recommends the best tool for the application. Winners for the 2015 AWFS Fair Visionary Awards were announced during an awards ceremony held Friday, July 24 at the Las Vegas Convention.
