Georgia-Pacific, Lamco Ink Engineered Wood Agreement

ATLANTA -- Georgia-Pacific announced a sales and distribution agreement with Lamco Forest Products for the production of laminated fingerjointed lumber (LFL) products, to be sold under the Georgia-Pacific brand.Based in Quebec, Lamco says it uses a patented process combining double tongue and groove and fingerjoints to produce the engineered wood structural building products. Weak Southern Pine Lumber Demand Slows Production

VANCOUVER, BC — Interfor Corp. said weak demand for southern yellow pine lumber is forcing it to reduce production by 20 percent at its southern U.S. mills.Work hours at the mills were reduced by five hours until further notice, Interfor (TSX:IFP) said.  "Prices for southern yellow pine lumber have fallen by 27 percent since the beginning of the year as available supply has outstripped product demand in the region," said Duncan Davies, Interfor's president and CEO.

MasterBrand Cabinets Consolidates Operations, Adds Jobs in NC

MasterBrand Cabinets' $3.5 million purchase of a 137,095-square-foot facility in Lexington, NC, is part of the cabinet giant's plan to consolidate three operations in the area. New jobs will be created at the plant, which will begin production of cabinet doors and drawers in October. By spring, employees and operations from three nearby facilities also will be moved over to the plant.
