Woodworkers: Pocket Jig Gets MakeoverKreg Tool says its new Kreg Jig K5 pocket hole jig features a clamping mechanism that has a front-mounted handle and adjusts to different workpiece thicknesses without tools or adjusting nuts. Adjusting for different thicknesses is done, instead, by sliding the clamping mechanism into position, lifting a front-mounted handle, then pushing it back down. This sets the spring-loaded clamp to hold tight. Reset is done by following the same steps. Rubber padding on the clamp face prevents workpiece marring.

The new K5 jig also has a quick-release drill guide block, as well as a new setting block for the drill bit stop collar. A standard 3-hole drill guide block is included, and the Jig K5 is compatible with Kreg’s Micro Pocket Drill Guide and Kreg Jig HD.

A pair of extension wings supports wide or long workpieces – and can store drill and driver bits, screws, etc. An adjustable workpiece stop, a swiveling dust-collection port, and hex-shank drill and driver bits are also included. Kreg prices the K5 at $139.99. It ships Sept. 1. kregtool.com
