Pyramid Mountain Lumber goes up in flames during demolition

SEELEY LAKE, Mont. — During demolition of Pyramid Mountain Lumber's buildings in Missoula County, Montana, two structures caught fire in the early morning hours of June 3, according to a report by KPAX, a Missoula County news channel.The lumber site announced in March 2024 to permanently close the mill and auction its equipment. The workers fed the last logs through the mill on July 2, 2024.

University seeks comments on genetically-grown chestnut trees for federal review

The initial chestnut restoration project, developed by researchers at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), began in 1989 with initial discussions between founding members of the New York Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation and SUNY ESF scientists. The project initially involved research into using genetic engineering to introduce blight resistance, with the first transgenic trees planted in field trials in 2006.

Freddie Davis receives Lifetime Achievement Award from AHFA

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Freddie Davis, founder of Gulfstream Shippers Association, along with more than a dozen other successful businesses in the furniture, transportation, and international shipping industries, has received the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Specialized Furniture Carriers division of the American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA).
