CLEVELAND — Lubrizol, a science-based company whose specialty chemistry delivers sustainable solutions to advance multiple industries including paints & coatings, has announced the availability of a new water-borne, high-solids polyurethane dispersion (PUD) that enables the formulation of advanced, high-performance wood coatings.

Sancure 942 Polyurethane Dispersion is a versatile, new polymer designed for residential and commercial wood floor finishes and OEM wood coatings. It brings protection from wear, good chemical resistance properties for enhanced durability and robust adhesion to multiple substrates, making it suitable for multiple applications, the company says. The product was designed for use in wood coating formulations, but probably best suited for wood floor coatings that require outstanding protection from wear and chemicals.

As a high-solids product, it enables formulations that provide more coverage per volume, which reduces the number of applications required for desired performance and faster return to service. The performance features of Sancure 942 Polyurethane Dispersion are further enhanced when used with external crosslinkers.

“The entire value chain will experience benefits," shares Israel Skoff, technical marketing manager, resin technologies. “Coating manufacturers will see protection capabilities that outperform many solvent-borne predecessors as well as reduced shipping emissions due to the lower levels of water. Contractors will experience efficiency and safety with a versatile product for multiple substrates and a safer product that requires fewer coats. End-users will appreciate reduced job cost, faster return to service, and outstanding durability.”

Sancure 942 Polyurethane Dispersion joins a growing portfolio of coating technologies from Lubrizol that enables formulators to meet their sustainability initiatives while enhancing the performance of their products.
