OfficeMax recalls 216,000 task chairs

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall of approximately 216,000 task chairs by OfficeMax of Naperville, IL.


OfficeMax received about 35 reports of chair backs or posts breaking, including 15 reports of injuries involving lacerations, muscle strains, contusions and concussions. The chairs were manufactured in China and sold at OfficeMax stores nationwide from September 2003 through July 2008.


Consumers are urged to return the chairs to OfficeMax for a full refund or $55 gift card if the consumer does not have a receipt.
