MAURICE RIVER TOWNSHIP, NJ -- No injuries were reported in a weekend fire that destroyed the carpenter shop at Bayside State Prison.

Emergency officials told NJ.com that the fire was detected at 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, January 15. The fire pierced the roof by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.

Officials suspect an electrical problem triggered the problem and that plywood stored in the building fed the fire.
