Expenditures are going into facility upgrades, new equipment, and equipment relocation. Hiring will begin immediately with a plan to recruit up to 100 people over the next 24 months.

The plant provides added capacity, said Ken Pfarr, President & CEO, "but more importantly, improved freight, reduced lead-times, and increased flexibility to our customers in that market.”

With this expansion, St. Paul, Minnesota-based Northern Contours, now employs over 385 people in over 420,000 square feet at six locations in three states. Markets served by Northern Contours include kitchen, bath, home organization, store fixtures, healthcare and contract furniture. Production includes flat and membrane pressing, CNC routing, edgebanding, precision boring, and other traditional woodworking processes.

“With the expansion of our sales force to the western states, we’ve gained a number of new customers who have been anxious for us to open a closer facility,” said Lary Skow, VP sales and marketing for Northern Contours

Northern Contours began advertising at the end of October for a maintenance supervisor to oversee installation of new equipment at the plant.
