Million Dollar Grant Funds Forest Industry Jobs Database - in Canada

The Forest Products Association of Canada is receiving over $1 million to create an online database for the forest products sector that will include information on available jobs based on skills and geography. The Canadian forest products industry employs 230,000, generates revenues of $58 billion, and exports half of production - the largest exporter of forest products in the world.

Graduates of the Wood Manufacturing Council’s (WMC) “Women in Non-Traditional Trades” program found ready employment in Moncton, NB, with nine of the ten who completed the training joining firms in the area. An update on the program will be presented at the Wood Machinery & Supplies Show in Toronto, Nov. 5-7 at the International Centre.
