Woodcraft and its customers donated more than $6,000 in 2013 to support Fresh Wood, a student competition founded to encourage and support young woodworking designers and builders like Mollie Ferguson, a beginning furnituremaker who won two top Fresh Wood awards in July 2013.

Woodcraft is celebrating a milestone – customers and employees have turned over 100,000 wood pens since the Turn for Troops National Turn-a-Thon began 10 years ago.

Woodcraft’s AWFS Fair participation this year included support for two student competitions – SkillsUSA and Fresh Wood. Woodcraft provided tools for the SkillsUSA event and a financial contribution for Fresh Wood.

Woodcraft will mark a decade of sponsoring its annual Turn for Troops National Turn-a-thon when volunteer woodturners gather at Woodcraft stores nationwide on the weekend of Nov. 9-10 to craft pens for men and women in the armed forces.

Rockler Woodworking and Hardware opens 11,000 square foot superstore, as retirees take up wood craft and do-it-yourself projects.

As part of its mission to provide quality instruction for woodworkers, Woodcraft is pleased to again provide major funding for Rough Cut – Woodworking with Tommy Mac, which will begin its fourth season on Saturday, Oct. 5.
