U.S. Forest Service, Utah sign agreement to strengthen timber production across the state

U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox signed a next-generation agreement that builds on a successful shared stewardship partnership. The agreement expands opportunities for timber production, new wood uses, restoring landscapes, and reducing wildfire risk to communities, ecosystems, and local economies across Utah.

Maine expands PFAS ban

AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine plans to expand its ban on products intentionally made with PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances), so-called forever chemicals, in 2026, according to Maine Public radio.The ban first went into effect in 2023 for carpets and fabric treatment, with next year’s bans expanding to upholstered furniture, and other products.

SFPA aligns with U.S. industry on EUDR simplification

As the European Commission prepares a further postponement of its Deforestation-free Regulation (EUDR), proposals to simplify the law are abundant in Brussels. The undersigned organizations, representing the U.S. forestry and forest products sector value chain, urge the Commission to avoid a rushed process and take the time necessary to pursue simplification with great care.
