MENDOTA, Ill. — Instead of celebrating its 30th year of manufacturing custom cabinet and millwork, Starved Rock Wood Products is going out of business.
The company’s WARN notice (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) was posted yesterday on Illinois Work Net indicating 58 workers will be laid off on June 8. A second WARN notice posted yesterday for Illinois Valley Millworks, the previous name of Starved Rock Wood Products, states seven employees will lose their jobs on June 8.
According to the Shaw Local News Network, 77 employees will be affected. Shaw News reported the company decided to cease operations after financial consultants reviewed its ability to compete in a challenging market.
Founded in 1994, Starved Rock Wood Products’ operations include a 150,000-square-foot manufacturing complex in Mendota, Illinois, and a 9,000-square-foot showroom in Glenview, Illinois. The company is owned by CL Enterprises of Peoria, Illinois.
Equipment listed on the company’s website includes:
- Anderson CNC routers
