DRUMMONDVILLE, Quebec – Fresh off the heels of the successful Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo, CCI Canada Inc. is stepping up the much-anticipated relaunch of Salon Industriel du Bois Ouvre' (SIBO).

SIBO 2020 will take place April 23-25 at the Centrexpo Cogeco, a state-of-the-art exhibition and conference center that opened in 2014. The facility is centrally located between Montreal and Quebec at the crossroads of A 20 and A 55. It features free parking for more than 1,200 vehicles, including a handful of charging stations for electric cars.

Harry Urban, show manager of SIBO, said many leading companies serving the Quebec woodworking industry have already signed on to exhibit including Blum Canada, Planit Canada, Aiguisatek, Abrasives J.J.S./sia Canada and GRASS Canada to name a few. In addition to contracting booth space to exhibit, FS Tool will sponsor the lanyards for the three-day event.

“We’re super excited to bring SIBO back to Quebec under the new ownership of CCI Canada,” Urban said. “While the show has not been held since 2008, it builds on a strong legacy of having served Quebec’s $8.2 billion wood products industry. The Centrexpo Cogeco is an ideal facility for holding an industrial woodworking show and is strategically located within a 90-minute drive of more 70 percent of Quebec’s population.”

Urban’s enthusiasm is shared by SIBO exhibitors.

"SIBO's return offers us an exciting regional event to meet with our Quebec and Eastern Canada customers," said Frank Horvath, director of sales and marketing of FS Tool of Markham, Ontario. "With its established reputation of educating the industrial market, we have the perfect platform to share many of our cutting tool solutions, and manufacturing best practices that help optimize the greater North American market. "

“Planit Canada loves the Quebec woodworking community, an active group of forward-thinking entrepreneurs doing exciting work and bringing innovation to the kitchen cabinet industry,” said Amanda Gay, marketing and product manager of Planit Canada based in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec. “The very best method for sustaining the growth of the industry in this province is to take advantage of all opportunities to come together, to learn from each other, and to continue to elevate each other.”

“We also understand that a strong local trade event is in the best interests of the Quebec woodworking industry -- especially in these difficult times -- by providing a marketplace, education and face-to-face contact,” said Patrick Poyet, vice president of Abrasives J.J.S Inc. of Lévis, Quebec. We are committed to exploring all options to work with all active members of the woodworking community.”

Urban said SIBO is working closely with Victoriaville College and Laval University to help develop the event's educational curriculum. Topics will include finishing advancements, Industry 4.0, workforce development, management issues, and implementing advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence as it applies to the woodworking industry. Formal announcement of the SIBO education program and registration are forthcoming.

He added that the show will feature a full range of technological advances in machinery, tooling, software, materials and supplies. “Our goal is to provide wood product manufacturers, both large and small, with the latest products and information that will help them increase their operational efficiencies and their bottom lines,” Urban said.
