International Paper CEO Named RISI CEO of the Year

BOSTON --  John V. Faraci, CEO of International Paper, was named the 2014 North American CEO of the Year by RISI for his leadership, vision and strategic accomplishments.

Faraci, 64, has been chairman and chief executive officer of International Paper, since November 2003, and is expected to retire in March 2015. In 2003, he was elected president of International Paper, and he previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer from 2000 to 2003. From 1999 to 2000, he was senior vice president – finance and chief financial officer. Under Farici’s leadership, International Paper became a leader in containerboard production as well as a major player in market pulp and coated paperboard.

Faraci was nominated by a group of investment analysts and portfolio managers covering the North American and global pulp and paper industry. One of the analysts who nominated Farici touted his leadership and being “disciplined on supply to keep containerboard pricing stable.”

The award will be presented at the 29th Annual RISI North American Forest Products Outlook Conference, which will be held Oct. 8.
